The Communications VISTA at Giving Hope will help end poverty by developing a coordinated communication plan to educate the community about services and needs of the homeless and near homeless. Major functions include producing a monthly newsletter, developing a social media plan and creating videos to educate the public on issues involving homelessness, poverty and other issues. The VISTA will be responsible for the development of events such as the State of the Homeless, Landlord Forum, Veteran’s Strategy Summit and the planning of the National Hunger and Homeless Awareness week. The resources developed by the Communications VISTA will endure for years, however the VISTA member will have limited interaction with Giving Hope clients and will be based in an office setting. Applicants must have exemplary written and oral communication skills as well as experience with social media, desktop publishing and public relations.
