VISTA Ayelia Ali Lays the Foundation for the Woman to Woman Grants Program

911-day-of-serviceAyelia Ali, Grants VISTA at Woman to Woman Pregnancy Resource Center was given the task to create, organize, and implement a grant writing program. Her first task was to understand how to search for grants in databases. Ayelia met with the UNT Eagle Commons librarian and learned how to navigate through the Foundation Center and narrow down a foundation search. With this newly learned skill, Ayelia located 7 foundations to which Woman to Woman could apply for funding. She searched for organizations that advocated for: empowering pregnant women and their families, educating at-risk youth/teens, STI testing and knowledge. During her time at the Eagle Commons Library, Ayelia was also informed about upcoming grant writing workshops available to the public. She plans on attending these so she has a better grasp at acquiring grants for the future. It is her goal to continue the variety of services the Woman to Woman umbrella offers through the grants she applies for. Through her efforts, she expects the potential outcomes of the grants to exceed $75,000 and for the grants program to bloom.
