VISTA Raven Carr Develops New Partnership for Interfaith Ministries of Denton

Raven CarrInterfaith Ministries’ mission is to provide emergency basic needs assistance to the people of Northern Denton County with the goal of helping those people to become self-sufficient. VISTA Raven Carr serves at Interfaith Ministries of Denton, Inc. as the Volunteer Coordinator. After the holidays, Interfaith was left with 3 large boxes of toys from its Christmas toy distribution program. The agency tried to find ways to donate the toys to other agencies in the area but were denied. Raven reached out to Portfolio Residents Services, a nonprofit that works with children and families that live in low income apartment communities, to see if they would be interested in receiving a toy donation. The organization appreciatively accepted the donation. Weeks later Raven was contacted by her network at Portfolio and asked if Interfaith would be interested in a partnership. Raven’s supervisors agreed to a partnership. The partnership will include Portfolio sending residents to Interfaith when they are in need of its services and Interfaith will get to market to Portfolio residents about its mission and volunteer needs.

Interfaith Ministries is a partner agency of the VISTA North Texas project.
