Interfaith Ministries of Denton, Inc. provides emergency basic needs assistance to residents of northern Denton County with the goal of helping them become self-sufficient. On Saturday, August 8, Interfaith distributed school supplies, backpacks, and clothing to nearly 1,000 at-risk Denton ISD students through its annual Apple Tree Project. The event was held at Calhoun Middle School, where agency staff, volunteers, and board members collaborated in order to facilitate a massively successful event.
VISTA member Nico Meyering worked adamantly to publicize the event through writing blog entries, press releases, and social media posts before and after distribution. Nico linked all of his efforts through a central webpage on Interfaith’s website and took over 150 photos which can be viewed here.
Nico made a concerted effort to mention and thank the Project’s sponsors, including the Denton Breakfast Kiwanis, the Rees-Jones Foundation, the CoServ Charitable Foundation, Denton ISD, the Denton Benefit League, and the City of Denton.
Interfaith Ministries of Denton, Inc. is a partner agency of the Chisholm Trail RSVP, Inc. AmeriCorps VISTA North Texas Project.
