VISTA Member Works to Ensure People Receive Needed Assistance

FullSizeRenderOur Daily Bread is a community soup kitchen that serves a free, nutritious lunch meal Monday through Friday to the hungry and homeless in Denton County, TX.  But Our Daily Bread is much more than a nutritious meal.  Volunteers who help at the Program Coordinator area work closely with clients, referring them to appropriate social service agencies and other resources for assistance.  Also, Our Daily Bread distributes hygiene products to clients when needed, from their Hygiene Distribution Center.

During the summer months, the number of volunteers decrease but at the same time, there is an increase in clients registering with Our Daily Bread to use their resources. With fewer volunteers during the summer, the agency cannot always inform everyone about the resources available.  VISTA member Nate Dears along with the Program Coordinator, Myles Wood created a client registration brochure.  This brochure includes the services provided at Our Daily Bread and other social service agencies in the community, regulations and other important information. The brochure will aid the volunteers and staff to give vital assistance information to the clients and ensure everyone who needs help has access to the information and services in the community.

Our Daily Bread is a partner agency of the VISTA North Texas project hosted by Chisholm Trail RSVP, Inc.
